आईएएस अधिकारी प्रदीप शर्मा भुज में काम कर रहे थे। उन्होंने 2004 में आर्किटेक्ट मानसी सोनी से एक गार्डन की लैंडस्केपिंग कराई। इस गार्डन का उद्घाटन नरेंद्र मोदी ने किया। इस समारोह के दौरान शर्मा ने मानसी सोनी का परिचय मुख्यमंत्री से कराया। दोनों ने ईमेल आईडी का आदान-प्रदान किया। महिला प्रदीप शर्मा के करीब थी इसलिए उसने उनके साथ यह जानकारी साझा की।
जल्द ही मोदी ईमेल से फोन कॉल पर आ गए और सुश्री सोनी के साथ नंबर का आदान-प्रदान हो गया। बात और आगे बढ़ी तथा मानसी सोनी को मुख्यमंत्री निवास पर आमंत्रित किया गया। वहां उसे उसकी इच्छा के विरुद्ध रोक कर रखा गया था। उसने शर्मा को सूचना दी। शर्मा ने बचने के लिए बीमारी का बहाना करने की सलाह दी।
एक डॉक्टर को बुलाया गया। मानसी सोनी किसी तरह निकल पाईं। इससे पहले वहां काफी कुछ हो चुका था और जाहिर तौर पर साहेब को शक था कि मानसी सोनी ने जो कुछ भी हुआ था, उसे रिकार्ड कर लिया है। कहने की जरूरत नहीं है कि ब्लैकमेल करने का जो तरीका आप उपयोग करते हैं उसका डर आपको अपने खिलाफ भी किए जाने का रहता है।
इसलिए मानसी सोनी का पीछा करने और उसपर नजर रखने के लिए दो स्वतंत्र टीम लगाई गई। दोनों एक दूसरे से आजाद थी। इसके साथ आईएएस अधिकारी प्रदीप शर्मा की भी खबर ली गई। इसमें उनका कैरियर नष्ट हो गया।
एक टीम का नेतृत्व अमित शाह ने किया था, जिसने सुश्री सोनी पर नजर रखने के लिए पुलिस के संसाधनों का उपयोग किया लेकिन साहेब दूसरी टीम के उपयोग में हमेशा एक कदम आगे रहते थे। मानसी सोनी बैंगलोर चली गई लेकिन वहां भी उनका पीछा किया गया। तब कहानी सार्वजनिक हो गई और इस मामले को ‘स्नूपगेट’ नाम मिला।
मानसी सोनी का परिवार दृश्य में आया और सबसे अपना काम करने को कहा। लड़की के पिता प्रणलाल सोनी ने राष्ट्रीय महीला आयोग को भेजे अपने पत्र में अपनी बेटी की जासूसी मामले में नरेंद्र मोदी को निर्दोष बताया है। उन्होंने कहा है कि मुख्यमंत्री से पारिवारिक संबंधों के कारण उनके कहने पर ही लड़की सुरक्षा प्रदान की जा रही थी।
वहीं, सोनी के परिवार के सदस्यों का कहना है कि वो नहीं जानते कि सोनी 2004 के उद्घाटन के बाद नरेंद्र मोदी से कभी मिले भी हैं या नहीं। लेकिन कुछ लोगों का अनुमान है कि ये बातें उन्होंने राजनीतिक दबाव में कही थी |
मामला धीरे-धीरे काल कवलित हो गया। लेकिन आईएएस अधिकारी प्रदीप शर्मा का कैरियर मोदी और शाह की प्रतिशोधी जोड़ी ने नष्ट कर दिया…. भविष्य में ये लोग कुछ शीर्ष पदों पर कब्जा कर पाए और ‘बेटी बचाओ, बेटी पढ़ाओ’ का नारा दिया। कैसी विडंबना है। – संजय कुमार सिंह जी
This incident took place in early 2005. Namo was CM of the state and there was a some building and garden renovation project in Kutch that had to be undertaken. IAS Pradeep Sharma was working with the CM and was the Kutch collector at the time. He then introduced this girl to the CM. The girl was beautiful, smart and very competent. She was probably a civil engineer or architect and had a crucial role in designing the layout of this garden project. But the bramhachari went oh la la! Of course you should feel sad for him though. From 1971 till 2001 he had spent his life obeying the diktats of RSS- BJP seniors who definitely abhor any kind of love, romance and sexual stuff. But after 2002 elections our bramhachari had pretty much sidelined his seniors and was finally living a life of freedom and luxury. He fell for her. He gave her his personal number, a seperate phone. During various meetings and conferences our bramhachari used to take breaks and send shayaris, love letters to the lady. ‘ Mausam kitna suhana hai, thand kitne sharabi hai etc’. She told this to her mentor IAS Pradeep Sharma but he thought she was joking.
But then shit got real! The lady was invited at CM’s house and she spent two nights at the bungalow. Then Mr Sharma contacted the personal number which was given to the lady by CM. The person who received the call didn’t respond. He realised something fishy was happening. Fast forward four years later in 2009. The CM realised that a video involving him in an act was in the possession of the lady. He was worried as this would damage his political prospects and his image as a saintly man. He deployed his right hand man ( Current Home Minister of India) and his team to put the lady under surveillance. The snooping was executed by GL Singhal a Gujarat police officer. They snooped and monitored every single detail of her whereabouts, where is she, who she’s interacting with etc. Their audio was later leaked by Cobrapost in 2013.
The woman’s father, however, denied that the Gujarat government and police had put his daughter under surveillance. They said it was in personal interests and the girls father knew the CM personally.( Maybe due to political pressure). Sharma was sacked and sent to jail later under some corruption charges of illegal land dealings between 2003–2007. The whole issue then never resurfaced in the media.
Mansi was being spied in Bangalore, and after that no one knows what happened to Mansi? Where did Mansi go and where is she now? Nobody knows if Mansi is alive or not?
